The Course


This course aims to give transition year students basic media skills in an Irish language setting. The ides is to give the student some of the terminology that is required and aims to develop a mind set in the student so that he/she will gain an insight  into the the modern media world. The course will involve various tasks that are required to make a magazine type radio programme which they will record in a radio studio. We will aslo introduce the student to the fundamental skills required for film work.

We will introduce the student to journalism and to broadcasting as potential careers; explain what is involved and the different areas of work.

  •    Voice projection
  •    Arranging and accompaniment
  •    Interview techniques
  •    Editing

Scileanna Scannánaíochta
This section of the course will introduce the student to the basic skills of film-making

  •   Planning and preparing a filmscript 
  •   Using a camera
  •   Composition of shots 
  •   Use of lighting
  •   Movement and filling the frame 
  •   Editing

Course length: One week – Moday to Friday 9.30am to 3.00pm

Class Size: 16 students per course
