Gael Linn Commentary Competition
(with support from Nemeton Teo. and CLG Páirc an Chrócaigh)
For all those students who find themselves imitating Brian Tyers, Seán Bán Breathnach or Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh, Gael Linn is giving them a chance to become a commentator by taking part in this new exciting competition!
With support from Nemeton, the television production company that broadcasts GAA matches and with the Irish Language Officer in Croke Park, a silent video of the last 10 minutes of a famous football or hurling match will be provided to those taking part. The names of the players will be provided and it will be left to the commentator to record their own commentary based on the action that takes place in those last 10 minutes / those last 5 minutes for those competing in Category A (Primary School).

Each commentary will begin with the words ‘Fáilte romhaibh isteach a dhaoine uaisle, agus tagann sibh chugainn le 10 nóiméad fágtha sa chluiche seo idir A agus B’ and will continue until the end of the game.
The link to the selected videos will be sent to the competitors after they submit their entry form to us online and they will be instructed on how to link their recording to that video.
The competition will have three categories:
Category A: Primary School
Category B: Junior Certificate Classes and GCSE Classes
Category C: Leaving Certificate Classes, including Transition Year and A level Classes
*NB: This competition is for individual entries only.
The games we have chosen are:
– All-Ireland Football Final, Offaly v Kerry, 1982
