Ceoltoirí Chualann: The Band That Changed The Course Of Irish Music, by Peadar Ó Riada Launched in Dublin’s Unitarian Church

Gael Linn hosted a launch of Peadar Ó Riada’s new book on Ceoltóirí Chualann in The Dublin Unitarian Church. It was in the basementof this iconic church that Gael Linn ran the Damer Theatre from 1955 to 1976.
Sorcha Ní Riada was compère for the evening with music, song and memories flowing from Peadar Ó Riada, Seán Ó Sé and Michael Tubridy. Special guest speaker was Peter Browne who described the growth of Irish traditional music in the middle of the last century with Seán Ó Riada and Ceoltóirí Cualann to the fore of this development. It was special that family members of a number of band members were present for the event as well as former Gael Linn staff and their relations. Hoggis Figgis sold the books and Karina McNally spoke on behalf of Mercier Press.
