Machaire Rabhartaigh is located in the north-west of Donegal, northwest of Letterkenny in the Clochán Liath Gaeltacht, halfway between Gort a’ Choirce and Cnoc Fola. There are magnificent views of Inishbofin and the island of Tory from the dunes and beach, which stretch for three miles. These dunes and beach are the namesake of the place.
Coláiste Mhachaire Rabhartaigh, a Gael Linn summer college, is based in the community centre and national schools. Gael Linn has been involved in this area for over fifty years. By now the college is an integral part of this community, which has a rich linguistic and cultural heritage. All houses are approved by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Coláiste Machaire Rabhartaigh is a member of CONCOS.
The course in June is a special course, aimed at students from Northern Ireland who have only completed one or two years of Irish language study. This course lasts for two weeks. Course B in July lasts for two weeks and is open to students in years 3 & 4 at school. Course C in August lasts for three weeks and is open to students in years 4, 5 & 6 at school.
The aim of these courses is to improve students’ fluency and build their ability and confidence in speaking Irish. These courses provide students with practical opportunities to use Irish.
If you withdraw your application before 1st May, the deposit will be refunded, less an administration fee of €50. In the event of a withdrawal within 30 days before the start of the course, the full deposit will be forfeited.
Coláiste Bhun An Inbhir is located in the Gaeltacht of Ghaoth Dobhair. It is located in North West Donegal, 50KM from Letterkenny. Bun an Inbhir is a special place with beautiful beaches and scenery. There is a great wealth of heritage and Irish language in this area of Donegal.
Courses A and B are a special course aimed at students aged 11-14. These courses last for two weeks. Course C in July/August lasts for three weeks and is open to students aged 15 to 18.
The aim of these courses is to improve the students’ fluency and build their ability and confidence in speaking Irish. These courses provide students with practical opportunities to use the Irish language. Coláiste Bhun an Inbhir offers a wide range of water sports for students interested in these sports.
Instructors, who are trained to the standards of the Irish Canoeing Association, provide the water sports classes. All houses are approved by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and are members of CONCOS Coláiste Bún an Inbhir.
