For all the young people out there, both boys and girls, who are imitating Brian Tyers, Mac Dara Mac Donnchadha or Marty Morrissey, Gael Linn is giving you the chance to put your own commentary before the public by taking part in this competition which is named in memory of the famous commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh who has always been very supportive of the work of Gael Linn.

In collaboration with Nemeton, the television production company that broadcasts GAA matches, and the Irish Language Officer, Páirc an Crócaigh, a video of the last 8 minutes of a famous football or hurling match will be provided, but there will be no sound to the video.

The names of the players are provided and the contestant will be left to record their own commentary, based on the action that takes place in those last 8 minutes (5 minutes for those registered in Section A)

Each piece of commentary will begin with the words ‘Welcome in, gentlemen, and you come to us with 8/5 minutes left in this match between A and B’ The commentator will continue until the end of the match. The link to the selected video will be provided and contestants will be given instructions on how to link their recordings to that video after they have completed the entry form.
