It was a special privilege for all to be present at Téada’s concert as they celebrated twenty-five years on the stage at the National Concert Hall, in collaboration with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Gael Linn is very proud of what Téada has achieved as a group in bringing traditional Irish music to the world stage while placing the Irish language front and centre at every opportunity. The audience was also honoured to have the President of Ireland, Catherine Connolly, join us at this special event with her husband, Brian McEnery. Her presence demonstrated the country’s appreciation for musicians and the preservation of our culture and language.
Congratulations to TÉADA, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the special guests, singers Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich and Niamh Farrell, for providing a magical evening for a large audience. The music, the singing, the dancing were all outstanding. The interludes between the pieces were very interesting, poignant, and very funny too at times. The orchestral arrangements were created by Ryan Molloy, Mathew Berrill and Michael Keeney and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra was conducted by Karen Ní Bhroin for this superb superb event. The power of the orchestra added greatly to the night. The audience gave the performers a standing ovation twice at the end of the night before leaving the concert hall spellbound.
Gael Linn is delighted that this concert will be broadcast on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta on 9th April @ 19:00 and we look forward to publishing a recording in the future. Most of Téada’s music has been released on the Gael Linn label.
Gura fada buan TÉADA!!!
