Irish traditional group Gatehouse have released their brand-new album, Tríú, on the Gael Linn label. Gatehouse features John Wynne on flute and whistles, Rachel Garvey on vocals, Jacinta McEvoy on guitar and concertina, and John McEvoy on fiddle and mandola. Together, they blend expressive vocals with accomplished musicianship to create a rich, atmospheric sound that is deeply rooted in the Irish tradition while bringing a fresh and distinctive voice to their music. As the title suggests, thisis the band’s third album and features ten tracks in total; five songs and five instrumental pieces. Recorded at Malbay Studios in County Clare, the collection blends original compositions with traditional favourites, all brought to life through rich, multi-instrumental arrangements. Each track has been carefully arranged to capture the character of the tunes in full. The tunes gathered here come from a variety of traditions, including Ireland and Asturias, alongside two newly composed songs. Listeners can look forward to beautifully crafted performances on flute and whistles, mandola, guitar, concertina and fiddle, creating an atmospheric sound that is both rooted in tradition and refreshingly original. Exploring themes of myth and legend, love and loss, Tríú offers a thoughtful and imaginative musical journey.
